This is one of my favorite quotes from “The Creative Act: A Way of Being” by Rick Rubin. I first read this book a few years ago, and lately, I’ve been listening to the audio version on Spotify (free for subscribers). It’s one of those resources worth revisiting again and again, and hearing Rubin narrate it adds another layer of depth and insight.
There are so many Vedic themes woven throughout the book, likely because Rubin practices the same technique as Vedic Meditation. One chapter that really resonated with me is called “Nature as Teacher.” In it, Rubin encourages us to observe nature to understand how things unfold effortlessly without force, and how creativity is less about doing and more about allowing.
Having a regular meditation practice helps me experience and embody the concepts in this book on a much deeper level. If you’re curious about learning the style of meditation I teach, I’d love to share more with you. My next course is May 15-18.

“There’s a reason we are drawn to gazing at the ocean. It is said the ocean provides a closer reflection of who we are than any mirror.” ~ Rick Rubin, The Creative Act: A Way of Being
