I spent the last three months in an ashram in Northern India completing an intensive Vedic Meditation Initiator Training. It was incredibly life-changing, challenging, and heart-opening. It was a 24/7 training with no time off, with weeks spent meditating 14 hours a day, and many nights of only about 2 hours of sleep. The intensity of the training was balanced with an incredible sense of unity shared with the 22 other people on the training, endless laughter to the point of tears, and sweeping beauty and devotion exuded by the foothills of the Himalayas. I feel like a different person on the other side.
I am so proud to say that I am now a teacher of Vedic Meditation, inducted into the Shankaracharya tradition, an ancient branch of knowledge revered in India. This accomplishment wouldn’t have been possible without all the teachers and course assistants who guided us to the finish line of initiator training. Especially Thom Knoles who is an endless wealth of knowledge and an exemplar of expansive consciousness.
The greatest surprise of this experience was falling in love with the 22 other people on the training. We took every step together and never left anyone behind. Together we shared every meal, studied, laughed and cried, missed home, expanded our minds, and adapted in every way possible. I will never forget the time we shared, you are forever my family and we will always have the “good ol’ days”.
Thank you to my friends and family for cheering me on along the way. Especially my husband, who showed me what it means to be a loving, grounded, and supportive partner. You are my rock!
Now that I’m back, I can’t wait to share Vedic Meditation with you. It is a simple, effortless technique that is great at removing stress and sustaining happiness. I plan to integrate this style of teaching into my acupuncture practice to provide even more resources and self-sufficiency for my patients and future students.
If you’re interested in learning Vedic Meditation or want to hear more about the practice, let’s find a time to chat. I plan to offer my first course in the next few weeks, so stay tuned for details!
