How to Make the Mundane Moments of Life More Sacred.
This quote is from the book, “Braiding Sweetgrass,” by Robin Wall Kimmerer. I’ve been slowly making my way through this book, learning about Indigenous wisdom, scientific knowledge, and the teachings of plants, and I’m enjoying every moment.
The quote above is one of my favorite lines thus far. It has led me to wonder how I can make the mundane moments of my life more sacred. I’ve realized that our days can be filled with ceremony when we slow down, become present, and have intention.
Here are a few ways I’m going to implement this practice…
Notice the feeling of the water on my hands as I wash the dishes.
Take in the beauty of the trees when I’m on my daily walk.
Do a body scan before I fall asleep to notice where I’m holding tension.
Take a deep breath and give thanks before I start each meal.
Light some candles and put on some soothing music when I cook dinner.
How will you make the mundane more sacred this week?
