Focus on Dharma Instead of Comparison.

How do we stop comparing ourselves to others? We can start by paying attention to our dharma.

🌿 Dharma is our personal role in the evolution of things. That which in doing for us is in perfect tune with nature. It’s often confused as our profession, but it’s more than that. It’s how we show up in the world—a unique expression of our individuality.

In the Vedic text, the Bhagavad Gita, it says, “It is better to do one’s own dharma imperfectly than another’s perfectly.” When we compare ourselves to others, we stray from fulfilling our own dharma.

So, how do we fulfill our dharma?

🌟First, we meditate and settle into our simplest form of awareness, connecting with our true Self, and releasing accumulated stress.

🌟Then, we emerge from meditation with clarity and a rested nervous system, ready to take spontaneous right action from a place of calm.

Next time we find ourselves comparing, we can have some self-compassion for the behavior, and gently let it go. We can then tune in with ourselves and ask, “What is my dharma in this moment?”

Eventually, we will celebrate others living their dharma, while we live ours—knowing we each contribute something unique to the collective consciousness.
